Stepney Green
Stepney is a fascinating part of Tower Hamlets. Stepney Green is an attractive approach to the old village heart of Stepney where can be found St Dunstan's Church, Stepping Stones Farm and The Lady Jane Mico's Almshouses.

Stepney Green, mansion house.
An entrance door beyond wrought iron gateway from a linear park, known as Stepney Green. A mansion built 1694 is an example of several which sought this leafy quarter. Representing an English Renaissance of classically inspired architecture, carved mouldings and proportions provide an elegant elevation below a deep cornice at the roof-line.

Stepney Green, mansion house.
Stepney Green, a mansion house of 1694 - described in Sir John Summerson's Georgian London (2003) an example of the large houses which featured in this area when it was known as Mile End and Stepney Green. This is a representative of an English Renaissance house, with classical cornice at the roof-line and a hooded entrance featuring a scallop shell. Overall classical proportions. A gable end indicates a roof of two parallel pitches with a valley behind the front roof, while the latter features dormer windows above a moulded deep cornice.
