Victorian shops, Stourport on Severn
The architecture of Stourport has been very cruelly treated as the buildings seen on the extreme left and right of the picture demonstrate. What could be an entrancing 18th century canal town has been made to suffer unsuitable development. How did that monstrous funfair get planning consent, for instance ?
The early 19th century shops seen here, two of which are still trading, offer some solace to the visiting lover of buildings.

The Wheatsheaf at night, 39 High Street, Stourport-on-Severn, Worcs
A Marston's house, dating mainly from the late 18th century and parts from the 19th century. The left-hand bay is a late 19th century shop front, with two bow windows flanking a central doorway with traceried fanlight. There are two bars and a small outdoor area. The building is Grade II listed and was at one time known as The Wheatsheaf Inn. The outbuildings include former brewhouses.
