Bishopgate, Howden
The only new street laid out in Howden in the 19th century. An unusual range of buildings on the left which date from the 1830's and built by John Shepherd, a local joiner. At the far end is the 18th century Bridgegate House.

Bridgegate House, No.15, Bridgegate
A grade II listed 2 storey, 7 bay, (including the additional bay to left), house dated mid C18. Refronted and extended late C19, with C20 renovations. Constructed in brick in Flemish bond with a pantile roof, rebuilt parapet, end and ridge stacks. See Image LBS:- 165317

One of the finest 18th century houses in Howden, Bridgegate House was built around 1750 for Thomas Graver, surgeon and apothecary.

Hailgate House, No.41, Hailgate
A grade II listed house, dated c1840. Constructed in red brick with ashlar dressings and quoins, a central-hallway entry with a Greek Doric pedimented porch and a Welsh slate roof. Described in the listing text as the Boothferry Borough Council Planning Department, the house has now been converted into private apartments. See Image LBS No:- 165340
