Sheffield House,Ticknall
Built on the High Street as a home and (I think) surgery for a Dr Sheffield, the prominent parapet with the family name may have been a triumphant assertion that the Harpur Crewes of Calke Abbey were not the only family in the neighbourhood who could afford a bit of display. Or perhaps Dr Sheffield wanted to emulate Bess of Hardwick Image
