Longcliffe Calcium Carbonates
The offices of Longcliffe Calcium Carbonates can be found at these cross roads in Longcliffe. The limestone in this area provides some of the purest calcium carbonate in the country, which is used in industry and agriculture. The Longcliffe Calcium Carbonates quarry can be found down the road towards Grangemill.

Old Milestone by the B5056, Longcliffe
Carved stone post by the B5056, in parish of BRASSINGTON (DERBYSHIRE DALES District), Longcliffe, by phone box, opposite Honeysuckle Cottage, on the verge in front of wire fence, on North side of road. Bakewell Wedge, erected by the Haddon & Bentley turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : To / BAKEWELL / 10 / MILES : : To / ASHBOURN / 7 / MILES : Grade II Listed. Crossroads at Longcliffe
Not unlike its neighbour Grangemill, Longcliffe is basically a scattering of buildings clustered around a crossroads. The quarrying, refining and distribution of local limestone is the dominant activity.

Looking out from Longcliffe
Longcliffe Limestone own a quarry called Hoe Grange which is now a Derbyshire Wild Life Trust and Butterfly Conservation Nature reserve and today is an open day. Parking is in the Longcliffe works and a shuttle bus took us to the quarry. This view is from the Longcliffe entrance.
