Tram tracks on Burton Bridge
Uncovered during recent improvement works. The double track layout was created as part of the widening of the bridge in 1925-6, but was short lived as the tramway closed in 1929. This was the junction between the routes to Stapenhill (to the left) and Winshill (right). The latter also carried the trams of the Burton and Ashby Light Railway, which ceased operations in 1926.
