Monkey Puzzle tree in front of St Peter's
A fine Monkey Puzzle (Araucaria araucana) partly obscures the Grade I listed St Peter's church in the village of Witherley. This village is just inside Leicestershire while the nearby town of Atherstone is in Warwickshire, the River Anker which runs beside the church being the county boundary at this point. Islet in the Anker
This little islet is in the River Anker adjacent to Image It is linked to the eastern bank of the river by a bridge to a property next to the church which owns the island. One of my aunts used to live in this property and I remember going to a bonfire party on the island on November 5th - rather a good setting.
