Toadflax on the bypass
This is common toadflax, Linaria vulgaris, seen growing on the verge of the A444 Jimmy Hill Way in September 2020. For more on toadflax, see the Wildlife Trust site https://www.wildlifetrusts.org/wildlife-explorer/wildflowers/common-toadflax and Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linaria_vulgaris , which comments that this plant is ruderal, a coloniser of recently disturbed ground. It is native to Britain.

Coventry: A444 road sign and the Ricoh Arena
The direction sign is green because it is a primary route (trunk road) and is therefore marked in green on road atlases. The white panels for the side-road destinations denote that these are local names on non-primary routes; these would previously have been on a separate sign white in colour, but the system was changed a few years ago. Jimmy Hill Way, Rowley's Green
This is a stretch of the A444, the main route leading north out of Coventry towards Nuneaton. It is named after Jimmy Hill, Coventry City's most successful manager and a well-known television pundit, notable for his prominent chin. Coventry Building Society Arena, where Coventry City currently plays, is out of shot to the right.

Footbridge over the A444 Jimmy Hill Way by Coventry stadium
The footbridge connects the stadium to a large car park, but is also useful to pedestrians walking to the railway station and the Arena shopping development. The stadium opened in 2005 as the Ricoh Arena, but a change of sponsorship in 2021 has led to a change of name, to the Coventry Building Society Arena. For most of its history the arena has been the home ground of Coventry City football club, which moved there from the old Highfield Road ground in 2005, and its logo is visible on the stadium wall to the left of the bridge. To the right can be seen the symbol of Wasps rugby union club, who relocated to the Coventry arena from High Wycombe in 2014 and bought it outright in that year.
