Blackhorse Lane, Addiscombe, is closed
Work is going on redecking the bridge over a tram line on a former railway route. Behind the camera, work is also in progress on the bridge over another former railway, now a path.

Addiscombe Railway Park
Addiscombe Railway Park is a 3.3 acres (1.3 ha) linear park. The first section of the park was opened on 26 May 2007, with the second section opened on 15 March 2010.
It occupies the track route and green buffering land of the demolished 'Addiscombe Line', a short railway that ran between Lower Addiscombe Road and Woodside Junction.

Junction of Dalmally Road and Coniston Road, Addiscombe
This nineteenth-century development's location between two converging railway lines gives it a triangular shape and street pattern, and results in this narrow-angled road junction. In front of the houses that face the junction is a very small triangular "park" (a small space with a few benches and flowerbeds, railed off) to make productive use of otherwise useless land.

Former Odeon sign, Blackhorse Lane
I suspect that this sign was put up for an Odeon now gone, but the metal sign formerly used to house posters for its programme is still in use for other advertising. On the other side of the bridge a similar sign for the defunct South Norwood Odeon (Image) serves the same purpose. In the 1980s DJ Jazzy Jeff worked with a rapper known as the Fresh Prince, now the film star Will Smith. As Will Smith has risen to global fame, I've often wondered what became of DJ Jazzy Jeff; I wonder if he ever compares their fates bitterly.
