Croydon: Oval Road
Looking west towards its T-junction with Cherry Orchard Road. The houses are numbered up to 83, odds. At the far end, the high-rise buildings of central Croydon can be seen.

Croydon: Oval Road and Oval House
Looking east. Oval House is the building facing the camera. It is the largest house on Oval Road, and it situated precisely where the two arms of Oval Road divide, only to re-unite end-on thus forming a symmetrical oval shape, off which there is a short link to Leslie Park Road.

13-32 Cherry Orchard Road
Not taken because these flats are of any architectural or historical interest, merely because they were about to be pulled down and I feel that such doomed buildings should be recorded for the sake of posterity. (I may be wrong.) Neighbouring blocks and an office block across the road (

Croydon: The 'Orchard'
First opened in 1855 as a beer-house. Until about 1980, the name was the 'Cherry Orchard'. It is a good example of a pub which is making a real creditable effort to stay alive in an area where other pubs have 'gone under': a wide variety of entertainment and activities are offered, and it does give the impression that the landlord really cares.
