South Croydon: South End
The building just peeping in on the right is the Tree House pub: it has had several names since it used to be the Blue Anchor. A bit further down the street, but here out of picture on the left, is the former 'Swan and Sugar Loaf' which has been turned into a supermarket.

Cut down former tram pole
The dark coloured pole towards the centre of the picture is cut down from a full length pole which supported the overhead wires for the trams which operated through South Croydon until the early nineteen fifties.

Coming Through on the Blind Side
Car No.238 (Panhard et Levassor from 1902), driven by Edwin Boorman, correctly anticipates the traffic lights changing to green, and pulls out to overtake the two cars which have stopped at the lights. Seen near South Croydon, on the 2010 London-Brighton Veteran Car Run.
