Sowerby Hall Farm, Castle Sowerby
Castle Sowerby is the type of parish that has no village but many scattered farms and houses. As often, the church and Hall are adjacent. In these cases the church was probably founded by the Lord of the Manor.

West end of St Kentigern's Church, Castle Sowerby
The grid line goes through the porch! There used to be a West door, but this has been replaced by massive buttresses. One of the bells is dated 1586 and the other is of similar age.
