Memorial to Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee
This is the roadside verge entering Greystoke village from Penrith. On the verge, several thousand daffodil bulbs were planted in 2012 by men, women and children of the village, as a lasting memorial to the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The oak tree pictured was planted at the same time. It was grown from an acorn obtained from a tree growing in the Royal Windsor Great Park. The plinth pictured contains a time capsule prepared by children of Greystoke school, detailing events that took place in the village at the time. The plinth bears a plaque detailing this, and further information.
