Chislehurst Common and Pond
Although it is within Greater London, Chislehurst has retained a rural feel with its common and village pond.

Post box and horse trough, Kemnal Road
The trough, strangely enough, is a recent arrival here. It has been placed across the former entrance to the property with the hoarding. It has a very lengthy inscription this side, ending in 'Praise the Lord forever'. I now regret not taking a close-up of this, as most of the rest cannot be read from this view.

Invicta Scouts' site
The flagpole attracted my attention, rather incongruous in a wood. A sign on a nearby fence explained it: a Scout troop meets here.

Rush Pond, Chislehurst Common
There are two permanent ponds on Chislehurst Common, both the result of 19th century gravel working. Rush Pond is the lesser-known of the two, largely hidden by trees between Ashfield Lane and Heathfield Lane.

Prickend Pond, Chislehurst
Prickend Pond is the closest of the ponds to Chislehurst on or next to Chislehurst Common and is hence the best known. It is also rather more 'urban'. The photograph was taken early on the morning of Valentine's day.
