The A21 south of Bromley and looking fairly leafy. It is still a red route some way out from Central London.

These are so new you won't yet see them on the OS map, there is a gap where they are now.

Bromley Common: The Five Bells
This is a Mock Tudor public house on the main A21 Bromley Common road. There is a fascinating photograph here http://www.ideal-homes.org.uk/bromley/bromley-common/five-bells-1950.htm that shows the pub around 1950 as a small old cottage style building, complete with "The Five Bells" sign, fronting the road with the new "Mock Tudor" building looming behind. For aficionados of Belisha Beacons there is a motley collection of different coloured bowls on the crossing here, the far one of which looks as if it has possibly spent a tad too long in The Five Bells. Update December 2009. Another contributor informs me that this pub is now closed and is being redeveloped at the moment.
