Alfresco, The Milkmaid Pavilion, Kings Road Arches, Brighton
An Italian restaurant occupying a former pavilion built for the Festival of Britain in 1951. It has been a restaurant since 1996 offering views of the beach and other events, an acquaintance of mine happened to be dining here the night the West Pier caught fire.

The area in the foreground was once a boating lake but is now used for amusements usually involving inflatables.

The Upside Down House (1), Esplanade, Brighton
Opened in May 2019 and the third in the country after similar attractions in Grays and Trafford. Everything is upside down inside as well making for a disorientating feeling. This is the view from the beach see also Image

Alfresco Restaurant
Viewed from the beach with the rather nasty Soviet brutalist style Holiday Inn behind. Originally built in 1953 as the Western Bathing Pavilion, a changing area for bathers, but never took off and was converted into a cafe in 1957. This eventually fell into disrepair and was occupied by squatters in the early 1990s prior to the current owners taking over in 1996 who later added the rotunda on the first place enabling access from the promenade beyond. The reflection of the West Pier can be seen in the glass of the lower floor and gives some idea of the views for those using the establishment. In fact a friend of mine dined here on the night the pier burnt down and got a grandstand view.
