The sycamore in Penselwood
The small patch of grass at the junction of a number of roads at the heart of the village is home to a large sycamore tree. It has clearly been here many years and seen plenty of parishioners in its time but has become unhealthy. Work is due to start on removing a lot of diseased branches, much to the disappointment of the locals; some want it to be saved, others feel it may be time to plant a new sapling for future inhabitants.

An old switch on the church
An exterior (light?) switch on the wall of St Michael's church in Penselwood must have been state of the art when it was installed, but is now almost a museum piece.

Norman porch entrance in Penselwood
The south porch features some zig-zag styling typical of Norman designs; above the lintel is a lamb in a circle flanked by a lion and a lioness. Below are two crowned heads, thought by some to be Kings Arthur and Guthrun. The clean stonework and fine details suggest the stonework has been renewed.

The nave of St Michael and All Angels
The little church has Norman origins but it is thought that the tower, chancel and possibly the nave were rebuilt in about 1450.
