Dosthill School
A County Primary school catering for the 5 to 11 year-olds from the village of Dosthill. The school was founded in 1887 under the Kingsbury school board. Dosthill was at that time in Warwickshire, but boundary changes placed Dosthill within the borough of Tamworth and so it was moved into Staffordshire. My father, P.D.H.Farrow, was headmaster of this school from 1965 until his retirement in 1979.

Track between Dosthill Quarry and former Dosthill Lodge
Dosthill Lodge was demolished something like 25 years ago (i.e. early 80s) and replaced with several modern houses. This track runs between its former grounds and the car park which serves Image] next to Image It comes to an abrupt halt near to Image From the OS maps it looks as though this is not a Right of Way - the public footpath shown on the maps runs parallel with this track immediately to the south - and there is a sturdy gate across the entrance to it.

Dating originally from the C12th or late C11th this little building was originally a wayfarer's chapel, i.e. a chapel for travellers to use. It was later used as a school room before Image] was built. After this it was and still is used as a Sunday School and Parish Room. It is EH Grade II* listed (see http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1207811&searchtype=mapsearch )

Norman chapel, Dosthill
This little Norman Chapel, sometimes referred to as a "Wayfarers' Chapel" is in the grounds of Image], though predating the latter by about 700 years. My mother's father, William Perry (see Image]) repointed this little chapel in the early/mid C20th and there have been numerous repairs to it since.
