Southern end of the Crocodile Works development
The remains of the former Crocodile Works factory on Alma Street has been converted to flats, and this imposing round-nosed frontage built onto it between Alma and Porchester Streets.

All That's Left of the Crocodile Works, Alma Street
The famous Crocodile works used to export machetes to the plantations and jungles of the world they also made bayonets and knives for the armed services. The factory ran all the way down Alma Street and along Porchester Street. Most has now been demolished to make way for 168 homes.
