Old Rayne Primary School
The school roll in 2016-17 was 46 pupils, a relatively healthy number. The site was apparently once occupied by a 'castle' belonging to John Barbour (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Barbour_(poet) ), the "Chaucer of Scotland", who wrote the epic late-medieval poem 'The Brus': https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Brus , which includes the famous line "Freedom is a noble thing!"

Approaching the A96 from Old Rayne
The exit from the village is narrow, with two sharp bends, and so it is reasonable for priorities to be established, as here. The rule should be that if you have entered a narrow section like this, then someone coming in the other direction should give way. But not all local authorities sign this to best effect.
