With the introduction of fire hydrants, "FP" wall plaques (denoting 'Fire Plug') became an outdated term. However, they continued in use for many years until they were replaced with more appropriate plaques on which a large letter 'H' was marked. This "FP" plaque indicates that it is 14 feet from the hydrant. Image
