Baptism was founded here in Rockwell Green in the nineteenth century; they established a church building to the right of the present church. In 1903 they added another building (the present one) as a Sunday school but the Baptist Union closed Rockwell Green Baptist Chapel in 1983. The old church has been demolished and the school building lay unused until a resurgence of Baptist followers formed and returned to the church in 1996. The group now call themselves The Well Christian Centre.
