The opencast workings (disused) are marked on the 1:25,000 series OS map in the area of the small pond. However, from the lack of hedgerows, the smooth contours and the badly drained surface of the fields it is evident that the whole area from the foreground to the trees in the distance has been worked by opencast mining. It is a shame that the quality of the reinstatement is so poor.
