Carved stone post by the A3102, in parish of Hilmarton (North Wiltshire District), Calne Road, Hilmarton Manor, just North of drive to Lower Penn cottages/Milestone House, on wide grass verge, on corner of drive, close to footpath to Compton Bassett, on East side of road. Hilamarton stone, erected by the Calne, Lynham & Hillmarton turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- (TO) SWINDO(N) 14 MILES ----- (FR)OM CALNE 2 MILES Carved benchmark on top face; rivet on top. Grade II listed.
