Bounded on the north by the "Caledonian Hotel" (see: Image] ) and to the south by the "Albion Hotel" (see: Image] ), the "Railway Tavern" is believed built in 1897, replacing an earlier pub of the same name. Acquired by the State Management Scheme on 21 October 1916, it was closed in 1917 - although the premises stood until demolished 1998/99 to make way for the modern business units seen here. The exact location of the "Railway Tavern" is uncertain, but was probably in the middle of this block.
