On the corner of Old Mill Court and Monnow Way. The plaque on the wall records that the cog was recovered during preparation works undertaken on the site of the former Merry Miller public house by developers Morganstone. The driving cog transferred power from the water wheel to the grindstone mechanism. It was part of Malpas Mill constructed in the mid to late 19th century. The mill was demolished many decades ago.
