Viewed from outside the "Joiners Arms" (see: Image] ), tiny John Street once boasted two pubs - both long gone. Just beyond the surviving three-storey building, the black fencing marks the site of the "Bricklayers Arms", which is first mention in 1847 when named the "Weavers Arms". It was renamed the "Sportsman's Arms" circa 1863 and the "Bricklayers Arms" circa 1882, but was instantly closed on 12 July 1916 as the State Management Scheme deemed it "unsuitable". However, the property was not finally demolished until 2001. For the "Maltsters Arms", see: Image] .
