This part of the pavement is about a metre above street level. The shop nearest the camera is Mobile Hub. A Popular History of Cornish Place Names states that the name Market Jew is derived from the Cornish language phrase Marghas Yow, (Thursday Market), the name of a nearby village now absorbed into Marazion, to which Market Jew Street leads.
