The architecture of Stourport has been very cruelly treated as the buildings seen on the extreme left and right of the picture demonstrate. What could be an entrancing 18th century canal town has been made to suffer unsuitable development. How did that monstrous funfair get planning consent, for instance ? The early 19th century shops seen here, two of which are still trading, offer some solace to the visiting lover of buildings.
