Opened in 1863 on the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway's "Oldham Loop" line from Manchester to Rochdale, this station, situated by the grass bank in the distance, closed in 2009. It was replaced in 2013 by the Metrolink tram stop closer to the camera. Compare with Image View north east towards Derker and Rochdale. The tram-stop was closed in early 2014 and diverted to run via the town centre, leaving the old railway track-bed here to now become a footpath.
