An ex railway bridge once hosted the Great Central mainline but was one of the 1960s cuts. Now lots of the trackbed through Leicester and going south is a path, the line from Leicester north to Loughborough and then onto Ruddington is mixed heritage and freight lines. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Union_Canal#The_Leicester_Line
