Knapweed

Image: © Rob Farrow Taken: 29 Jun 2006

A knapweed flower in the verge alongside Wellhead Road southeast of Totternhoe Church End. I originally thought that they were a purple variety of cornflower (which are much bluer). Knapweed (Centaurea scabiosa) and Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus) are the same genus but different species, See also Image taken a few yards away.
