• General overview of beat such as percentage of area which is affluent / deprived - General Overview – The beat is generally thought of as one of the more affluent parts of the City. This is shown in the house prices and desirability of the location. The majority of the house is either owned or rented to students
• Significant industrial / employment bases e.g. Magna Park / East Midlands airport – The University of Leicester is a major part of the beat, the university has roughly 22000 students attending there with a large proportion living in and around the beat in rented accommodation. There are 3 other further education colleges on the beat along with 2 junior schools and a private senior school.
Morrison’s, Odeon cinema and De Montfort hall are all on the beat.
• Industrial development – There is a large scale building development taking place at the University with 5 tower blocks and other student housing being built for 6000
• Other relevant local factors – Victoria Park is a popular location, this is the location for the Caribbean Carnival, Pride Parade, outdoor concerts and also large scale events and fairs. The O2 is popular with traveling bands as is De Montfort Hall.
